In the United States along, weight related issues are estimated to cause more than 300,000 preventable deaths a year. This is also associated with type 2 diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, stroke, arthritis, and depression. These issues are causing a tremendous burden on health services.
All of this is caused by lack of nutrition and exercise. In other words, it can be reduced and for the most part, preventable. To do so, it takes a little scientific innovation to create food and beverage products that are structured to tackle this overwhelming problem.
